About the Sector:
The Indian economy is opening up its horizons for tourism & hospitality industry as it continues to integrate with the world economy. Besides the regular jobs of a travel agent, tour guide, air hostess, chef, waiter, managers and other opportunities await those who are keen on taking up a job in this sector. The hospitality industry is a labor intensive one and India has a large pool of individuals who prove as a catalyst in development and prosperity of the industry.

Tourism & Hospitality is broadly classified in two segments:
• Tourism: The tourism sector includes medical and healthcare tourism, adventure tourism, heritage tourism, ecotourism, rural tourism, wildlife tourism and pilgrimage tourism.
• Hotels: These include business hotels, suite hotels, resort hotels, airport hotels, extended stay hotels, apartment hotels, resort hotels, timeshare hotels, casino hotels, convention centers and conference centers

The main sub-sectors thus identified as sub-sectors of the tourism & hospitality sector are:

Currently, we have two job roles in the Electronics Sector Skill Council of India available across our skill centres. These job roles have been carefully identified, researched and selected keeping in mind the Industry requirements and maximize employment opportunities. These job roles are:

House Keeping Attendant – Manual Cleaning (THC/ Q 0203)

Job Description : The primary role entails keeping buildings in clean and orderly condition. It includes ‘systematic’ cleaning of a property including building floors, glass surfaces, offices, restrooms, auditorium, lifts, utility rooms, canteen & pantry, and common areas (inside and outside sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or wiping and removing garbage

Technical competency


  • arrow Relevant OH&S procedures and guidelines concerning housekeeping operations
  • arrow Workplace and servicing procedures and policies for the carrying out housekeeping tasks in the workplace.
  • arrow Risks when carrying out housekeeping tasks and related precautions to control the risk.
  • arrow Housekeeping standards required in the workplace.
  • arrow Application of relevant industrial regulations and requirements.
  • arrow Storage, service and upkeep procedure for housekeeping equipment’s and consumables.

Communication skills


  • arrow Preparing for Interviews
  • arrow Understand and practice active listening
  • arrow Techniques to facilitate effective team and meeting communications
  • arrow Common reasons for interpersonal conflict
  • arrow Emotional Intelligence to deal with difficult situations

Computer Proficiency


  • arrow Ability to use computer systems and programs
  • arrow Familiarity with MS Office application (Knowledge of Basic Excel, Word, Power Point)
  • arrow Perform daily word processing tasks
  • arrow Perform tasks and work with data in Excel worksheets
  • arrow Create a simple presentation in PowerPoint, run it, and print it

Who Can Attend : Any person who is 18 years or more and has minimum education of 5th standard can attend the program.

Total Course Duration : 250 Hours
