PM Vishwakarma Scheme
PM Vishwakarma is a Central Sector Scheme, was launched on17th September, 2023 by Ministry of Micro,
Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), the scheme focuses on uplifting artisans by providing them
end-to-end support with financial assistance, skill development opportunities, modern tools,
incentive for digital transactions and market linkage support with market access.

Overview of the Scheme:
The primary objective of the PM Vishwakarma scheme is to enhance the skill development
and competitiveness of artisans, particularly those engaged in traditional industries
such as handloom, handicrafts, pottery, weaving, and more.
Benefits of the Scheme :
1. Registration: Artisans interested in availing benefits under the PM
Vishwakarma scheme can register through designated government portals or local offices.
Registration typically involves providing basic personal and occupational details to
verify eligibility.
2. Recognition: Recognition of artisans and craftspeople through PM Vishwakarma certificate and ID card.
3. Skill Upgradation Training: Basic Training of 5-7 days and Advanced Training of 15 days or more, with a stipend
of Rs. 500 per day. This training aims to modernize traditional techniques, improve product quality,
and introduce artisans to new market trends and technologies.
4. The skill Upgradation Training Includes:
- Craft-specific Training: Focused on enhancing traditional skills, introducing modern techniques, and improving product quality.
- Financial Literacy: Training sessions to help artisans manage their finances effectively, understand banking systems, and access credit facilities.
- Digital Literacy: Programs to educate artisans on using digital tools for design, marketing, and sales. This includes training on e-commerce platforms, social media marketing, and digital payments.
- Self-employment and Entrepreneurship: Guidance and mentorship on starting and scaling small businesses, including legal compliances, business planning, and accessing financial resources.
- Marketing and Branding: Assistance in listing products on e-commerce platforms to reach a broader audience, Support in creating brand identities for artisan products, including logos, packaging, and marketing materials, Training and resources for effective digital marketing strategies, including social media campaigns and online advertising.
5. Toolkit Incentive: A toolkit incentive of upto Rs. 15,000 in the form of e-vouchers at the beginning of Basic Skill Training.
6. Credit Support: Collateral free 'Enterprise Development Loans' of upto Rs. 3 lakh in two tranches of Rs. 1 lakh and Rs. 2 lakh with tenures of 18
months and 30 months, respectively, at a concessional rate of interest fixed at 5%, with Government of India subvention to the extent of 8%. Beneficiaries
who have completed Basic Training will be eligible to avail the first tranche of credit support of upto Rs. 1 lakh. The second loan tranche will be available
to beneficiaries who have availed the 1st tranche and maintained a standard loan account and have adopted digital transactions in their business or have undergone Advanced Training.
7. Marketing Support: Marketing support will be provided to the artisans and craftspeople in the form of quality certification, branding, onboarding on e-commerce platforms such as GeM, advertising, publicity and other marketing activities to improve linkage to value chain.
In addition to the above-mentioned benefits, the Scheme will onboard the beneficiaries on Udyam Assist Platform as 'entrepreneurs' in the formal MSME ecosystem. Enrolment of beneficiaries shall be done through Common Service Centres with Aadhaar-based biometric authentication on PM Vishwakarma portal.
The enrolment of beneficiaries will be followed by a three-step verification which will include Verification at Gram Panchayat/ ULB level, Vetting and Recommendation by the District Implementation Committee and Approval by the Screening Committee.
